![]() It made a pleasing whiiirrrrr noise as I hit the throttle and started off towards the Aurora. I built my Seamoth, and watched it sploosh into the water. I was proud, feeling like I had a real handle on this survival shit. I'd just finished building my base and finally acquired the means to build a seamoth. ![]() It was a sunny morning in Subnautica land. So far it's only happened once and I've been too much of a scaredy cat to go back. I haven't actually worked up the nerve to go to any places where they're a potential danger yet. After it started searching around I fled home. ![]() It was a large distance away and hadn't seen me, and I was able to see it uncoil to its maximum size. I flinched and glanced over and saw the thing in all its glory. Later on, I was back in the deeps when I heard another roar. However, that wasn't my first real encounter. I saw a flash of something much, much bigger than my Seamoth and decided that it would be in my best interest to immediately flee back home. ![]() Out of nowhere I heard a deafening ROAR and whipped my sub around to look at what it was. It was quite shallow, so I didn't expect anything. The first time I saw one was near some rock spires pointing up out of the ocean. Eventually I realized that they were still pretty far and kept at it. Whenever I heard it I immediately booked it back to base to recharge and relax. I had finally installed the pressure upgrade on my Seamoth and was going down pretty deep. I'd like to say I faced death bravely, but the sound I made caused my dogs to howl. The leviathan shoots out of the deep blue again, arms extended, eye contact established. Slithers anywhere, and decided I can swim back to base. I wasn't too far down figured I could get a gulp and head back down before he came back. My air was dangerously low, I needed to surface. "Shit!" Thought I, "I'm sure fucked now." "Ha!" Thought I, "you'll turn around and slither back to your hunting ground and I'll return victorious into my sub." Then he picked up my sub and dumped it underground. I scurried into the wreckage, popped the lids and watched as this big bastard rammed into the derelict parts again and again. Hopped on out, swam towards it, and a big head just shoots past me. I turned tail and fled, thinking that it wouldn't pursue me.Ī few hundred feet later, I stopped at a blown off piece of wreckage from the Aurora to salvage some loot. Then the head of it became clear and I was aware it was a lot larger than I originally expected. A long coil of alien, turning away from me. I thought at first it was very distant, as at the time I believed only one reaper was hanging out around the Aurora. I was exploring along the outer edge of the Aurora for loot crates with the roaring all around me. So yeah, what was your first Leviathan encounter like? I want to hear about the stress and panic most of you guys probably felt when seeing your first.įirst time I had a leviathan encounter was just after the Aurora update. Jesus christ, it seems like even when you're on dry land, these monsters can still find a way to scare the shit out of you. (I left the seamoth there so I wouldn't lose the island.) I screamed and ran into the water, jetting off onto my seaglide. It was partially clipping through the floor from the water below, and had aggroed on me. As I turned around on the beach, I saw the midsection of some giant, blue serpent arcing out from the SAND on the beach before disappearing underneath. It was probably its attack roar or something, Idk. Without any warning, the Roar played again, louder than before. Finally, I left the cave and got to the beach. I explored the underwater cave for a bit, shaking in my seat the whole time. At that point, my common sense was telling me to get out of there before whatever made the noise got me. It lead deep underground, with an underwater segment. After I managed to work up the courage, I went back into the cave. I ran out of the cave and leapt back into my seamoth. As soon as I entered, I heard the roar of some gigantic, whale-like creature. After facing off and shanking some of those little crab Mofos, I decided to check out the cave. I was checking out the Mountain island, which I had stumbled across on my seamoth. It was.well, definitely very unusual compared to other peoples experiences. My very first Reaper Leviathan encounter happened earlier today.
